History

The Latinos for a Secure Retirement coalition was launched in 2011 to serve as the pre-eminent voice for Hispanic Americans in the fight to defend Social Security from proposed cuts and privatization. The LSR coalition brought together 10 of the strongest and most prominent Latino advocacy organizations in their efforts to protect the program.

Today

We are a National Nonprofit dedicated to our mission of safeguarding the economic security of those dependent, now or in the future, on Social Security, and protecting and improving the economic security of disadvantaged and at-risk Hispanic populations of the United States.

Our Initiatives

As Latinos continue to face many barriers to retiring with financial security, our national programs engage participants through culturally responsive Summits and Cafecito Town Halls. We engage communities in critical discussions on retirement readiness and caregiving through two lenses: the emerging young adult and families nearing retirement.

We combine benefits access & navigation and financial education to empower Latino communities and support their desire to stay healthy and economically secure. Our programming provides the Latinx community with tools, resources, and advocacy to improve retirement security for current retirees and ensure retirement security for future generations.
