Meet The Speakers

Rosalinda Martinez, Associate State Director, Outreach & Advocacy AARP Texas State Office, Houston
Rosalinda currently serves as the Associate State Director of Outreach & Advocacy at AARP, the nation’s largest nonprofit. Prior to her role at AARP, Rosalinda served as the Vice President of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the largest Hispanic Chamber in the United States. As Houston’s demographics shifted, Rosalinda saw the opportunity to train the young leaders of tomorrow.

Newton Tamayo, Lone Star Legal Aid Representative
Newton Tamayo is a staff-attorney at Lone Star Legal Aid. He has been at the law firm since 2018, mainly focusing on consumer and housing law issues. He holds his JD from Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and LLM from the University Of Texas School Of Law, his BA in Humanities from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Newton has lived in the greater Houston area for the majority of his life. He is an immigrant of Mexico and the second oldest of a family of five. When he is not working, he is running or supporting the Houston Rockets.

Veronica Fuentes, Certified Financial Planner, Northwestern Mutual
In 9 years, Veronica Fuentes has built a reputation as one of the nation's leading Latina Financial Planners. Her DC based practice, in partnership with DeVaughn Hodge, serves over 500 clients across the country. She consistently ranks in the top 10% among Northwestern Mutual’s financial advisors nationwide. For Fuentes, financial planning is not only a career but a personal mission. When her mother passed away unexpectedly at the age of 19, Veronica learned how important financial planning was to a family. From this experience, Fuentes has made it her life's work to make a difference in other families' lives by giving them the gift of financial security.
